Monitoring Roost sites
For an effective long term conservation of bats it is vital to know the major roosting sites of bats by monitoring the health of bat population. For non-congregating bat species an assessment will be made through capture and recapture method. Through this project we plan to gather data about various roosting sites across India and monitor the population status on a regular basis through the help of volunteers, researchers, enthusiasts, naturalists, etc,.
In the last couple of years we have identified, surveyed, mapped and documented various roost sites and species diversification across South India. We will be carrying out broader surveys across other parts of India in future and look forward for support of local community and interested parties.
